In most of the sanitary pads sold by the brand of feminine hygiene products, Always, in the United States, a symbol of Venus appears represented by a circle sitting on a cross ♀, which is traditionally linked to women.
Many have asked for this emblem to change because not only women menstruate: trans clients and non-binary people do.
On Twitter, Ben Saunders and Melly Bloom, users Chile Mobile Number List of the platform, tweeted at the firm and asked why female symbols were necessary.
Could someone from Always tell me why it is imperative to have the female symbol on your sanitary products? Bloom wrote. There are non-binary and trans people who need to use your products too!
Given this comment, several trans men and non-binary people have spoken about the gender dysphoria they feel when they have to use sanitary pads with advertising and packaging that have feminine stereotypes.
Jamie Raines, a trans man, told PinkNews: “It can be quite difficult to navigate having periods as a man when everything to do with periods is primarily and very female-oriented.
The first time I had a period as a man, I went back to that very dysphoric feeling I had years ago, and I just remember again being stuck in the bathroom, crying, not knowing what to do. He shook me.

Immediately, the customer support team responded and said:
«We listened to you and our marketing team has already worked on a solution. “We are pleased to inform you that starting in December we will be using a wrap design without the female symbol.”
“We are absolutely grateful that people like you express your opinions. Thank you for contacting us, your comments help us improve every day!
Thus, Always responded to the requests and made a statement in which it stated:
For over 35 years, Always has stood up for girls and women, and we will continue to do so. We are also committed to diversity and inclusion; We are on a continuous journey to understand the needs of all our consumers. We routinely evaluate our products, packaging and designs, taking into account consumer feedback to ensure we meet the needs of everyone who uses our products. The change in our pad wrap design is consistent with that practice .
“After listening to many people, we recognized that not everyone who has a period and needs to use a pad identifies as female. To ensure that anyone who needs to use such a product feels comfortable with Always, we are adjusting our pad wrap design as part of our next round of product changes . ”
However, this measure was not well received by all users: the hashtag #BoycottAlways was created on social networks and there was a call to change the brand of sanitary towels because the change seems to “eliminate” women.
